Our lovely Christmas Tree. I grew up with real trees, and to me there’s nothing better. This one smells absolutely gorgeous, and, even though I love white lights, I’m really pleased with the nostalgia of the coloured incandescent bulbs that my daughter talked me into this year. (we were supposed to have a mix, but our string of white lights refused to come back to life this year!)
750words.com
I joined this site in March of 2010, when it was still very new. It’s now celebrating 15 years! It’s a place to go and get your writing done for the day, and it’s also so much more.
I can’t tell you how happy I was when I recently revisited some of the memories buried in the early entries from 2010. Precious moments that I’d captured right before and after my daughter was born. (At the time, I was just getting my writing done for the day, never knowing how much it would mean to me to be reminded of how I was thinking and feeling this many years later.)
I love seeing the little boxes at the top of the page fill in green and get check-marks (green for writing that day, a checkmark for when you have reached 750 words on that day) I love the confetti that celebrates crossing the 750 word goal, and I love seeing all of the stats and badges (for example today it tells me that since March 2010 I’ve written 884,031 words, started writing on 1083 days, and completed writing 750 words on 1046 days!) and so much more. If you are at all interested in having a writing practise, or if you just want to jazz up your own, go and have a little look around!Mince Pies - Oh I love mince pies! My favourite mincemeat recipe (happens to be vegan & fat-free, but it was my favourite even before I became a vegetarian!) comes from Karen Burns-Booth on her wonderful food & travel blog - Lavendar & Lovage. Pair with some lovely pastry and your favourite carols.
Speaking of carols - here’s a beautiful playlist from the Gesualdo Six with some utterly sublime performances.
Cute winter crafting - have been working on this super sweet free pattern from Jem Weston 🥹

I’m also looking forward to seeing family, good food, a little travel, and catching up on some good books over the next couple of weeks.
Wishing you all a warm and peaceful season with moments of joy, calm, presence and stillness.
xx
